About “A User Guide to Treating People Like People”
Neurodiversity is compared to the public awareness of gay rights in the 1970s, as many outside the community do not understand it. This zine aims to contribute to the dialogue around neurology by offering advice and personal stories about accepting neurodiverse experiences. It includes comics, narratives, and origin stories that help others better understand and interact with neurodiverse individuals. The zine promotes seeing neurodiverse people as real and whole, and it serves as the start of a social movement toward a future where people are treated with dignity. The creators believe neuroatypical individuals are inspiring and that others can learn from their experiences.
