Captain Mackenzie Calhoun and the crew of the USS Excalibur are stranded in a distant universe caught in an ancient war between two powerful alien races. Calhoun seeks to return home by aligning with one side or the other, using any means necessary. Meanwhile, in the New Thallonian Protectorate, Si Cwan struggles to maintain control as treachery spreads.
