About “The Slitheen Excursion”

The Doctor travels to Ancient Greece in a novel by Simon Guerrier, set in 1500 BC. King Actaeus and his people fear the gods who have arrived, but the Doctor, accompanied by student June, discovers they are aliens. These aliens, posing as gods, enjoy a holiday on Earth, participating in local customs such as gladiatorial games and hunting humans. With June's help, the Doctor encounters the Slitheen, his old enemies, who run a deadly tour company. He must stop the excursion without endangering more lives. The story also connects events in Ancient Greece to a modern-day plot to destroy the Parthenon. The novel features the Doctor as portrayed by David Tennant in the BBC series.
