Rina, unofficial caretaker of her small storefront synagogue, is shocked by a police call: the place of worship has been desecrated with anti-Semitic graffiti and Nazi death-camp photographs. Her husband Lt. Peter Decker is rocked by the outrage but can't let emotion interfere with duty. Suspect Ernesto Golding, a wealthy teen obsessed with his grandfather's past, is charged, but a deal is cut and the case closes, until Ernesto and his therapist are later found murdered, pulling Decker and Rina into secrets rooted in a past generation.
