About “An introduction to the theory of point processes”

Point processes and random measures are applied in various fields such as telecommunications, earthquakes, image analysis, and spatial patterns. Daley and Vere-Jones revised their 1988 work and divided it into two volumes: "Elementary Theory and Models" and "General Theory and Structure." Volume One includes introductory chapters and an informal treatment of later material to make it more accessible. It introduces marked point processes and time-evolving processes, using conditional intensity for model building and prediction. Examples are provided to illustrate concepts and applications. Volume Two covers the general theory with added material on marked and spatial processes. Mathematical background is reviewed in appendices in Volume One. Daryl Daley is a Senior Fellow at the Australian National University, and David Vere-Jones is an Emeritus Professor at Victoria University of Wellington. Their work was published in 2003 as the second edition.
