About “Mastro Don Gesualdo”
Mastro-don Gesualdo is an Italian novel written by Giovanni Verga and published in 1889. It was first translated into English in 1893 under the title Master Don Gesualdo, translated by Mary A. Craig and published in London. A later English edition from 1979, translated by Giovanni Cecchetti, includes an introduction in which he states that the novel is "generally regarded as a masterpiece."
