About “1637”
The year is 1637, five years after the Ring of Fire transported the town of Grantville, West Virginia, to 17th century Europe, altering the course of history. Russian serfs, inspired by the up-timers' ideals of equality, are rebelling, and the village of Poltz, led by blacksmith Stefan Andreevich, journeys toward Ufa in search of freedom. Czar Mikhail, having escaped house arrest with the help of up-time mechanic Bernie Zeppi and a zeppelin, also heads to Ufa to establish a government-in-exile, facing threats from aristocrats determined to suppress the rising tide of liberty.
