About “Absolution by Murder”
In A.D. 664, King Oswy of Northumbria holds a synod at Whitby to decide between the Roman and Celtic Christian churches for religious leadership in his kingdom. The decision carries major political and religious implications. When Abbess Etain, a key figure for the Celtic church, is murdered, suspicion points to the Roman faction. To prevent further conflict, Oswy asks Sister Fidelma, an Irish advocate for the Brehon Court, and Brother Eadulf, a Roman church member from east Anglia, to investigate. As more murders occur and a plot against the king unfolds, Fidelma and Eadulf must uncover the truth before it is too late.
