About “R.U.R. and The insect play”
In 1920, Čapek wrote R.U.R. (Rossum's Universal Robots), which introduced the term 'robot' and explores themes of humanity and subjugation. Helena Glory arrives at Rossum's island factory determined to liberate its mass-produced, intelligent robots, but becomes perplexed by their apparent humanity despite their lack of sentience, abandons her campaign, and falls in love with the factory's General Manager, Domin, even as conditions turn against the humans there.
