About “The Covenant of the Crown”
An Enterprise shuttle crash-lands on the barren planet Sigma 1212 during a violent storm. Spock, McCoy, and Kailyn, the heir to the Shaddan throne, survive the accident. They are pursued by primitive hunters and Klingon scouts as they attempt to reach a mountain where the dynastic crown is hidden. With the assistance of Spock and McCoy, and using her mental powers, Kailyn must prove she is the rightful heir. Failure would allow the Klingons to take over the quadrant, ending the galaxy's hope for peace and prosperity. The story is from a 1981 novel by Howard Weinstein.
