About “Star Trek - The Joy Machine”
Timshel was once a popular vacation destination known for its culture, natural beauty, and friendly people. It has since isolated itself from the universe, blocking all entry and exit. The Federation sent agents to investigate, but none returned. Captain Kirk and the crew of the Starship Enterprise discovered that the people of Timshel have been enslaved by a new technology that provides endless pleasure, leading to a life of soul-destroying ecstasy. This technology has controlled the entire civilization. Kirk and Spock have encountered many dangers, but this is their most challenging threat yet: perfect happiness. The rest of the Federation may also fall under the control of the Joy Machine.
