About “Star Trek - The Rings of Tautee”
When an entire solar system begins to disintegrate into cosmic rubble, Captain Kirk suspects that rumors of a new Klingon superweapon are true. The Tautee system is home to a pre-warp civilization that has not yet joined the Federation, so Kirk is restricted by the Prime Directive from intervening directly. His efforts to rescue the people of Tautee provoke a hostile reaction from four Klingon warships. The USS Enterprise must determine what is causing the destruction before the disaster spreads and endangers reality itself. The story is part of a 1996 novel by Dean Wesley Smith.
