The Star Wars Encyclopedia is a 1998 reference book written by Stephen J. Sansweet, who was the director of content management at Lucasfilm. It defines and explains characters, creatures, settings, objects, events, and concepts from the Star Wars franchise. The information comes from the original trilogy films, radio dramas, novels, short stories, graphic novels, and computer games. The book includes an introduction by science-fiction author Timothy Zahn. In 2008, it was expanded and updated as The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia, co-written by Sansweet and Pablo Hidalgo.
