About “The Big Six”

The Big Six is the ninth book in Arthur Ransome's Swallows and Amazons series, published in 1940. It follows Dick and Dorothea Callum, known as the Ds, as they return to the Norfolk Broads and reconnect with the Coot Club. The story takes a turn toward mystery as the Ds and the Coot Club work together to solve a problem that endangers the Death and Glories' ability to sail the river. Dorothea dubs the group of amateur detectives "The Big Six," a nod to the "Big Five" detectives at Scotland Yard. The book focuses on teamwork and problem-solving in a rural setting.
