About “Empire of the Ants”
'Les Fourmis' is the first novel in a science-fiction trilogy by Bernard Werber, published in 1991. It was translated into English as 'Empire of the Ants.' The story interweaves two narratives: one follows a male formica rufa ant in a Paris park colony, and the other follows a man who inherits a house from a mysterious uncle. He disappears after exploring the cellar, and others who enter the cellar also do not return. The ants in the novel display heightened intelligence and communication, based on scientific research but significantly exaggerated.
