About “Wait until spring, Bandini”

Svevo Bandini is a man who walks through the snow, clearly upset. He lives three blocks down the street and is very cold. His shoes have holes, which he tried to fix by using pieces of cardboard from a macaroni box. The macaroni in the box was not paid for. He thought about this as he placed the cardboard inside his shoes. The story is part of a 1938 novel by John Fante.
