It is 1830, and the Berrybender family, an affluent and aristocratic English family, is traveling up the Missouri River to explore the American West. They have left their home in England to experience the frontier and to give their children a broader understanding of the world. The family includes Tasmin, a determined and beautiful young woman, her lively and challenging sister, and their brother. They are accompanied by a number of servants and other retainers. The journey is meant to expand their horizons and introduce them to the vast and changing American landscape.
