About “Monk's Hood”

A stiff-necked old man leaves his estate to Shrewsbury Abbey in his will, then dies after eating a meal sent by the abbey. Brother Cadfael must investigate the man's death and determine who poisoned him. The suspects include himself, as he is part of the abbey and responsible for brewing, a hot-headed step-son, a bastard, and a villein. Cadfael must carefully examine each possibility without assuming guilt. The mystery unfolds as he navigates the complex relationships and motives within the community.
