About “The Two Dead Girls”
In the opening installment, elderly Paul Edgecombe begins recording his memories of 1932, when he ran the death row block at Cold Mountain Penitentiary. He recalls the arrival of John Coffey, an enormous, soft-spoken Black prisoner sentenced to die for the rape and murder of two little girls, even as Paul battles a brutal urinary infection.
