About “The Mark of Athena”

Annabeth is afraid as she and her friends Jason, Piper, and Leo arrive at Camp Jupiter on the Argo II. The Roman demigods are suspicious of the ship, which has a bronze dragon figurehead and appears threatening. Annabeth hopes Jason's presence will ease tensions. She also carries a gift from her mother, which includes a strange command to follow the Mark of Athena and avenge her. This adds to her stress, as she already deals with a prophecy about seven demigods on a quest to close the Doors of Death. Annabeth fears Percy may have changed and no longer needs her. The novel follows four demigods on a journey to Rome, where they face discoveries, sacrifices, and dangers.
