In Morgoth's Ring, the tenth volume of The History of Middle-earth, Christopher Tolkien presents and explains the legends of the Elder Days as his father, J.R.R. Tolkien, developed them before completing The Lord of the Rings. The book includes the full text of the Annals of Aman, a record of the Blessed Land. It also features previously unpublished writings that reveal Tolkien’s later explorations of themes such as the nature of Elves, Elvish rebirth, the origins of Orcs, and the Fall of Men. One major work included is the "Debate of Finrod and Andreth," which reflects Tolkien’s thoughts on mortality and immortality. Christopher Tolkien notes that Morgoth’s power was not centralized but spread throughout Arda, making him far more dangerous than Sauron. The book focuses on Morgoth, whose influence shaped the very fabric of Middle-earth.
