About “The Lays of Beleriand”
This volume collects Tolkien's attempts to recast his legends in long narrative verse. At its heart are two unfinished poems: the alliterative Lay of the Children of Hurin and the rhyming Lay of Leithian, which tells of Beren and Luthien. Christopher Tolkien supplies commentary, including critical notes once written by C.S. Lewis.
