The Conquering Tide: War in the Pacific Islands, 1942–1944 is the second book in Ian W. Toll’s Pacific War trilogy. It covers the central and southern Pacific between 1942 and 1944, focusing on the conflict between the Allies and the Empire of Japan. Published by W. W. Norton & Company in 2015, it was later released as a paperback in 2016. An audiobook version, narrated by P. J. Ochlan, was also released in 2015. The book follows Pacific Crucible, published in 2011, and precedes Twilight of the Gods, released in 2020. It provides a detailed account of the middle phase of the Pacific War.
