Blue Sargent comes from a family of clairvoyants, but her only gift is making others' talents stronger. She meets Gansey, a boy from Aglionby Academy, and learns he has his own abilities. Together, their talents create a dangerous combination. Blue has always avoided the Aglionby boys, known as "raven boys," believing they bring trouble. She has been told since childhood that she will cause her true love to die. She never thought this would be a problem. However, as she becomes involved in the mysterious and dangerous world of the raven boys, she begins to doubt her certainty. The novel explores her growing connection with Gansey and the weight of her prophecy.
