About “The triumph of the Scarlet Pimpernel”

In this 1922 novel by Emma Orczy (Baroness Orczy), a young man denounces Robespierre at one of his "Fraternal Suppers" and is saved by an asthmatic vagabond, fleeing to the home of Theresia Cabarrus. When he vanishes, allegedly seized by the Scarlet Pimpernel, Chauvelin enlists Theresia's help to capture the Pimpernel, whose wife is then kidnapped, forcing him to use his wits to save them both.
