Tiggy D’Aplièse works at a deer sanctuary in the Scottish Highlands when it closes, prompting her to take a job as a wildlife consultant on the estate of Charlie Kinnaird. There, she encounters Chilly, an elderly Romani man who reveals she carries a inherited sixth sense and that she is destined to return home. In 1912, Lucía Amaya-Albaycin is born into a Romani community near Granada and later leaves with her father to dance in Barcelona, rising to fame as a flamenco performer before fleeing during the Spanish civil war in search of safety and a chance to reach New York.
