She believed her wish was granted, but now she faces the consequences of her decision. Living under the protection of the Azish emperor, Lift feels trapped by court life. When she learns that an enemy known as Darkness is hunting people with emerging powers in Yeddaw, she leaves her safe place to help those in need. Lift feels responsible for the downtrodden and must confront the dangers of her past.
