The Three Investigators is a juvenile mystery series created by Robert Arthur Jr. and originally published under the title Alfred Hitchcock and the Three Investigators. The series features three young friends—Jupiter Jones, Pete Crenshaw, and Bob Andrews—who solve mysteries involving puzzles, stolen items, historical artifacts, and hidden treasures. Set in various American and international locations, the stories emphasize teamwork, logical reasoning, and the pursuit of justice as the trio works to uncover the truth and protect friends. First published by Random House in the United States, the original series consists of 17 books published between 1964 and 1986. The series became especially popular in Germany, where more than 200 books were produced directly for the German market. Rights to the series are held by Random House in the U.S., the heirs of Robert Arthur Jr., and the German publisher Kosmos.
