Celandine, a girl in 1915 during Britain's war, finds life unbearable after being bullied at boarding school and grieving her brother's death. She runs away to a secret world she knows, the realm of the little people. However, this world is also in conflict, and Celandine becomes caught in the middle of its dangers. The story follows her struggle to find safety and belonging in a world that is as threatening as the one she left.
