About “History of Southern Dynasties”
The History of the Southern Dynasties is an ancient Chinese historical work and part of the Twenty-Four Histories canon. It consists of 80 volumes and covers the history of southern China from 420 to 589, focusing on the Liu Song, Southern Qi, Liang, and Chen dynasties. The work was initially started by Li Dashi, but after his death, his son Li Yanshou completed it between 643 and 659. Li Yanshou also contributed to the compilation during the early Tang dynasty. Unlike other historical texts of the time, The History of the Southern Dynasties was not commissioned by the state. (Summary adapted from Wikipedia, CC BY-SA 4.0.)
