UDC: Universal Decimal Classification

About “UDC: Universal Decimal Classification”

The Universal Decimal Classification (UDC) is a bibliographic and library classification system that organizes all branches of human knowledge in a coherent, inter-linked structure. It functions as an analytico-synthetic and faceted classification system with a detailed vocabulary and syntax designed for effective content indexing and information retrieval in large collections. Since 1991, the UDC has been managed by the UDC Consortium, a non-profit international association of publishers based in The Hague, Netherlands.
