When Avram became King of Detina, he declared his intent to liberate the blond serfs from their ties to the land. The northern provinces, home to most of the serfs, refused to accept his lordship. These hot northern lands were dominated by broad estates whose noble overlords took the serfs' labor while giving little back, leading the provinces to secede under Grand Duke Geoffrey.
