Into the Wild is a fantasy novel written by a team of authors using the pseudonym Erin Hunter. Published in 2003 by HarperCollins, it is the first book in the Warriors series. The story follows a young domestic cat named Rusty, who leaves his human owners to join a group of feral cats known as ThunderClan. He takes the name Firepaw and learns to hunt and defend the clan. The novel includes a murder and betrayal within the clan, and ends with Firepaw earning his warrior name, Fireheart, after a battle with another clan.
