Dido, back in England from America, is almost instantly kidnapped and taken to a derelict mansion surrounded by a deadly moat, held by an evil baron who is also a werewolf and wants to know where the dying King Dick is hidden, so he can put his own demented son on the throne. Simon, next in line for the throne, must paint the king's portrait and find the coronet needed for his own coronation, rumored to be hidden in the mansion.
