Algernon Henry Blackwood was an English short story writer and novelist who lived from 1869 to 1951. He was born and raised in England during the late Victorian and early Edwardian periods. After moving to Canada and the United States in his early adult years, he returned to England later in life. Blackwood remained a lifelong bachelor. His work often explored themes of the supernatural and mysticism, and his writings had an influence on many 20th-century science fiction and fantasy writers.
