He is best known for writing big-budget biopics including The Theory of Everything, Darkest Hour, Bohemian Rhapsody, The Two Popes, and Whitney Houston: I Wanna Dance with Somebody. McCarten has been nominated for four Academy Awards, including twice for Best Adapted Screenplay. He was born in 1961.
