Arthur C. Clarke

Arthur C. Clarke was a British science fiction author and futurist, born in Somerset, England in 1917, who became one of the most celebrated writers of the genre. He is best known for his Rama series and for co-writing the screenplay of the 1968 film 2001: A Space Odyssey, as well as for his 1945 proposal of geostationary communications satellites. Clarke spent the latter half of his life in Sri Lanka, where he died in March 2008.
