About “Islands in the Sky”

Young Roy Malcolm wins the Aviation Quiz Contest and claims a trip to the Inner Space Station as his prize, five hundred miles up on an artificial outpost circling the planet in the mid-twenty-first century. A mysterious spaceship anchors near the station, its suspicious behavior suggesting interplanetary crime, leading to a race-for-life mission and a trip around the moon. The 1952 novel is by Arthur C. Clarke, chairman of the British Interplanetary Society.
