Charlotte Dacre, born Charlotte King, was a British Gothic novelist and poet who wrote under the pseudonym "Rosa Matilda" and later adopted another pseudonym to confuse her critics. She became Charlotte Byrne upon marrying Nicholas Byrne in 1815. Dacre authored four novels, including Confessions of the Nun of St. Omer and Zofloya, as well as three books of poetry, one of which was co-written with her sister Sophia King.
