D. E. Stevenson was a Scottish writer known for her light romantic novels, publishing more than forty over a span of more than forty years. She was born in Edinburgh, the daughter of a member of the Stevenson family of lighthouse engineers, and lived in Scotland throughout her life. Educated by a governess, she began writing stories at the age of eight and published her first book in 1923. She married Major James Peploe in 1916 and later lived in Bearsden and Moffat, where she died in 1973.
