Dino Buzzati-Traverso was an Italian novelist, short story writer, painter, poet, and journalist for Corriere della Sera. He is best known for his novel The Tartar Steppe, which brought him international recognition. His collections of short stories were also well-received. He was born in 1906 and died in 1972.
