Edwin Abbott Abbott (20 December 1838 – 12 October 1926) was an English schoolmaster and theologian. He is best known as the author of Flatland, a mathematical satire and religious allegory published in 1884. Abbott lived and worked in England during the 19th century. His work Flatland remains his most significant contribution to literature and mathematics. He was a theologian and educator, and his writings reflect both intellectual and religious interests.
