Eleanor Hallowell Abbott was an American writer born in 1872 in Cambridge, Massachusetts, the daughter of clergyman Edward Abbott and Clara (Davis) Abbott, and the granddaughter of children's author Jacob Abbott. She was a frequent contributor to The Ladies' Home Journal and published seventy-five short stories and fourteen romantic novels. Her literary connections included early exposure to notable figures such as Longfellow and Lowell. She also wrote an autobiography titled Being Little in Cambridge When Everyone Else Was Big about her childhood.
