Georges Polti

Georges Polti was a French writer who developed a classification of dramatic situations in 1895. He analyzed classical Greek texts, as well as classical and contemporary French works, and a few non-French authors. His work, The Thirty-Six Dramatic Situations, aimed to categorize all possible dramatic situations in a story or performance. Polti was born in 1867 and died in 1946.
