Gerald Roberts Reitlinger was an art historian specializing in Asian ceramics and the study of changing artistic tastes and their impact on art prices. He is known for his extensive writings on Nazi Germany, including The Final Solution (1953), The SS: Alibi of a Nation (1956), and The Economics of Taste, published in three volumes between 1961 and 1970. He was also a painter and collector, primarily of pottery. Reitlinger was born in London in 1900 and died in St Leonards-on-Sea in 1978.
