Gertrude Chandler Warner

Gertrude Chandler Warner (1890–1979) was an American children's author and longtime schoolteacher from Putnam, Connecticut, best known for creating The Boxcar Children series. She wrote the original novel in 1924 and went on to author nineteen books in the series, following four orphaned siblings who make their home in an abandoned freight car. Her books have remained perennial favorites for young readers, blending adventure with themes of family, resourcefulness, and independence.
