Gunadhya is recognized as the author of the ancient Indian epic Bṛhatkathā, which was written in a language called Paiśācī. The original work no longer exists, but it inspired several later adaptations in Sanskrit and vernacular languages. These adaptations include the Kathāsaritsāgara, Bṛhatkathāmañjarī, and Bṛhatkathāślokasaṃgraha.
