Jurjānī, ʻAlī ibn Muḥammad al-Sayyid al-Sharīf

Ali ibn Muhammad al-Jurjani, known as "al-Sayyid al-Sharif," was a Persian encyclopedic writer and traditionalist theologian. He was born in the village of Ṭāghu near Astarabad in Gorgan and became a professor in Shiraz. After the city was plundered by Timur in 1387, he moved to Samarkand but returned to Shiraz in 1405, where he remained until his death.
