Lawrence "Larry" Lessig is an American academic and political activist. He is known for advocating for fewer legal restrictions on copyright, trademark, and radio frequency spectrum, especially in technology-related contexts. Lessig is a professor of law at Harvard Law School and a director of the Edmond J. Safra Foundation Center for Ethics at Harvard University. Previously, he was a professor of law at Stanford Law School and the founder of its Center for Internet and Society. He is a founding board member of Creative Commons and a board member of the Software Freedom Law Center. He also served as a former board member of the Electronic Frontier Foundation.
