Linji Yixuan (died 866) was a Tang dynasty Chinese Chan (Zen) Buddhist monk and teacher of the Hongzhou school. A leading figure of Chan Buddhism in the Tang era, he is associated with the Linji school, and his teachings are preserved in the Record of Linji (the Recorded Sayings of Linji), a major Chan text.
